Gilmore girls season is basically here and there's something about the aesthetic of fall that makes getting dressed feel fun all over again.
The layers come back, the cozy markets, the changing of the colors. And after months of light summer shades, deep color finally gets its moment.
For Fall 2026, we're leaning into it.
Think burgundy, cognac, chocolate brown and black, mixed with softer shades and unexpected prints. Whether you're heading into the office, meeting friends for dinner or hosting Thanksgiving, this season is less about buying an entirely new wardrobe and more about finding new ways to style the colors you already love.
And your shoes are part of the equation.
The Fall 2026 Color Palette
Burgundy is the color of fall.
Burgundy feels made for fall. I don't think I can accept a world where burgundy isn't the epitome of fall.
Deep enough to work like a neutral but much more interesting, it pairs beautifully with the other rich shades taking over wardrobes this season.
Try burgundy with chocolate brown trousers, a cream knit, Burgundy Womads Oxfords
The deep colors create a cozy but well put together look, something I can see Andy wearing in a Fall Version of Devil Wears Prada.
The trick with tonal dressing is not trying to match everything perfectly. Different shades and textures give the outfit dimension. The era of perfectly matching, in my opinion, is over. Playing with shades and textures gives you so much more visual interest.
Deep browns and cognac
Brown is the new black in neutrals.
Chocolate, espresso, mocha and warm camel shades create that rich, cozy fall palette without feeling heavy. And if you're building an outfit around deep brown, cognac is one of the easiest ways to break it up while still staying within the deep colors of fall.
Try pairing chocolate trousers, a camel sweater and cognac Womads Oxfords
Cognac brings warmth to darker brown outfits while still keeping everything polished.
For the office, swap the sweater for a cream blouse and structured chocolate blazer. For the weekend, keep the same Oxfords and add straight-leg denim and an oversized knit.
One shoe, very different plans.
Black, but make it interesting
We will never tell you to stop wearing black. Instead, Fall 2026 is a good excuse to rethink what you pair with it.
Rather than head-to-toe black, try color blocking with burgundy, chocolate, camel or cream. Something along the lines of black wide-leg trousers + a burgundy knit + Black Womads Oxfords
Or reverse the formula with a black knit, burgundy trousers and Black Oxfords.
It still feels timeless, just with a little more personality.
Fall 2026 Outfits Worth Repeating
The best fall outfits aren't necessarily the most complicated. They're the ones you can actually imagine wearing again next week.
For the office
Start with a great pair of tailored trousers.
Chocolate brown, burgundy, charcoal and black all work beautifully for fall. Add a blouse, fine knit or blazer and finish with Oxfords instead of automatically reaching for heels.
Try Burgundy Oxfords with chocolate trousers, Cognac with cream and camel, or Black with a stronger color-blocked look.
It will look more polished without feeling overly corporate.
For Saturday plans
Fall weekends call for outfits that look put together without trying too hard.
Straight-leg jeans, a great sweater and leather shoes will take you surprisingly far.
For more color, pair dark denim with a burgundy sweater and Cognac Oxfords. The burgundy and cognac play off each other without competing.
Add a long wool coat once the temperature drops and you're done.
For hosting season
Thanksgiving dinners, drinks at home and all those "casual, but I still want to look good" occasions deserve their own outfit category.
This is where richer colors and statement pieces really shine. Try a chocolate or burgundy midi skirt with a fitted knit and Spotted Luxe Womads Peep Toes.
The print adds something unexpected to an otherwise tonal outfit without taking over the look.
If prints aren't your thing, Blush Peep Toes can soften a deep burgundy or chocolate outfit while Vanilla Peep Toes create a stronger contrast.
Don't Put Away Your Peep Toes Yet
Summer ending doesn't mean every summer shoe immediately goes into storage.
Early fall is actually one of our favorite times to style Peep Toes because the contrast between lighter shoes and deeper fall colors makes an outfit feel fresh.
Vanilla + burgundy
This might be one of our favorite combinations for the season.
Try: cream pants + burgundy blouse + Vanilla Peep Toes
Vanilla gives the outfit contrast without the starkness of bright white.
Blush + chocolate brown
Soft pink and deep brown shouldn't work this well, but they do.
Try: chocolate midi skirt + blush knit + Blush Peep Toes
The softer color keeps all that brown from feeling too heavy.
Spotted Luxe + rich neutrals
If your wardrobe already lives in black, brown and cream, let the shoes do something different.
Try: black trousers + chocolate knit + Spotted Luxe Peep Toes
A statement print can work almost like a neutral when the rest of the outfit is simple.
How to Transition Summer Outfits Into Fall
You don't need to wake up on September 1 and suddenly dress for November.
The easiest summer-to-fall outfits mix pieces from both seasons.
Keep the dresses, skirts and lighter trousers you've been wearing all summer, then start introducing deeper colors, leather shoes and layers.
A summer dress can get a second life with a cardigan and Cognac Oxfords. Cream trousers can move into fall with a chocolate knit and Burgundy Oxfords. Your Vanilla Peep Toes can stay in rotation with burgundy trousers and a lightweight jacket.
The shift can happen gradually.
Your Fall Wardrobe, Your Way
Fall 2026 isn't about replacing everything in your closet because a new season arrived.
It's about getting excited about getting dressed again.
Bring back the burgundy. Lean into chocolate brown. Mix black with warmer shades. Wear the print. Try the color combination you wouldn't normally put together.
And build outfits around pieces you'll still want to wear long after this season's trends have moved on.
People love Fall because of the trends but it's also about how Fall makes people feel. So find what makes you feel the cozy, warm nature of fall and hold on to that.
